Stupid Bing maps doesn't work in India.

My rating to Bing maps is = -10
My rating to Google maps is = +10

Bing search engine and Bing maps are useless.

Nokia drive only works in a few countries if you do not have a Nokia phone. I want turn by turn in all countries.

Nokia drive + funguje jen ve vybraných zemích. Proč přehlížíte Českou republiku, jako u ovládání hlasem telefonu ??????!!!
Nokia Drive + works only in selected countries. Why disregard the Czech Republic, as with voice control phone???!!

Shouldn't this be closed now that Nokia Drive+ is available for all Windows Phone 8 phones?

Bing maps on wp7 were great. Just got a Nokia Lumia 820 and am dismayed to find Bing maps replaced with Nokia maps. The interface is confusing and the satallite images for where I live are basically green smudges and the Nokia Drive routing sends me down farm tracks. Had a phone upgrade, but this makes it feel like a downgrade!!! Bring maps the original Bing maps with the original Bing data/routing and ditch the Nokia disaster. Should have got this right considering Apples mapping problems...

It is disappointing that my 4 year old Android phone has native turn by turn GPS, and my brand new Windows Phone does not. There is no excuse for being able to match this functionality across iOS and Android out of the box - license the Nokia Drive app from Nokia and place it on all Windows Phones.

I have to say that I am appalled that Microsoft actually downgraded this feature. It was at least usable in WP7. Now its worthless when in traffic and almost worthless entirely. I may have to return my 8X.

Please don't make me buy and iPhone...

Microsoft, how did you let Nokia ***** you out of voice turn-by-turn navigation on WP8? Why would a consumer upgrade to a phone without this feature? Tell Nokia to allow access to voice turn-by-turn data, then integrate it into Bing Maps, and make your customers happy. Otherwise I cannot justify staying a WP user. My contract ends in 3 months. Should I stay with WP? How can I without this feature? Why would I upgrade to WP8? Why wouldn't I switch to Google or Apple who both have this feature? Apple dropped Google Maps because they wanted voice turn-by-turn on iPhone and Google would not give them access to the data. Why would you let Nokia do the very same thing to you? Now Microsoft is the only major phone OS maker without voice turn-by-turn. Who let Nokia pull a fast one on you guys? Nokia is ruining your ecosystem.

It is illegal to use maps while driving in Ontario.
this is not hands free and is actually VERY DANGEROUS
to try to follow visual directions in traffic. If not going to have verbal..... It would be safer to remove it completely. And cheaper. The fine for using it if caught is very expensive.

Turn-by-turn GPS ( just like iPhone Google Map/ Nokia Drive ) should be avaialble for all Windows Phone as a native feature.

Turn by turn navigation with compass orientation and ability to disable time-out screens should be defaults features in all windows phones period.

      • JamesJames commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

When I say 'turn-by-turn' I mean that I can replace my Tom Tom or Garmin with my Windows Phone and not have to tap the screen to get the next instruction. That's ridiculous in 2012. Just because I bought HTC (because the Lumia 920 is not on T-Mobile) I'm not able to get this feature.

Additionally, the lock screen should not time out, and should show us turn-by-turn on the lock screen, with real-time traffic updates, suggested alternate routes, and tell me "in 1.2 miles, turn right on Southside Blvd." Then, "in 500 yards, turn right on Southside Blvd." Not just when I miss a turn, but alerting me before a turn so that I don't miss it in the first place.

This is an absolute MUST. Navigation is a huge deal for me and is the biggest worry I have when switching over from Android to Windows Phone. Google Maps and their Navigation feature are just absolutely perfect. A complete masterpiece. Either Microsoft needs to make a **** good Bing based alternative or they need to get a deal with Google to bring a Google Maps app to WP that is of the same quality as the excellent recently released iOS app.

This is the biggest feature I am missing since moving from Android. Just a thought, what about a "Streets & Trips" version for Windows Phone?

      • UvedaleRebelUvedaleRebel commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

My mian issue is that Nokia Drive no longer has real-time traffic updates as it used to do with Symbian. So Nokia Drive parks you at the back of the nearest traffic jam. Commute is helpless and hopeless. Nokia Maps has real-time traffic but no turn by turn directions. This is so stupid someone somewhere must be having a laugh. I subscribe to Orange maps to get traffic updates. Not happy at all.

@magicalclick In the settings for Nokia Drive you can set it to tell you how far away the next turn is. There's also an icon that displays what kind of turn it is.
