We should have an option to hide the directions and display the map in full screen.

Also- the color of the direction list should NOT follow the device theme. the color contrast of the theme colored words can't be seen against the backround (bothe black or white). just have the word directions in black and white to contrast the background color.
I can't tell you how many times I've taken my Eyes off the road to try and read the words since the nav volume is so low. just to be ****** off that the theme colored words blend in with the background.
MS- These little things are why your losing the race. Give the users the simple feaures and then they will love your bigger ideas. get it togher MS.

I have the offline maps (Turn-by-turn Europe)... And for the voice commands... You must send that to NAVTEQ... They're the developers...

Hey guys these are two suggestions I came up with let me know what you think.
Home screen customization (more than just colors) http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions/suggestions/2482522-home-screen-customization-more-than-just-colors-
A tightly Integrated Ecosystem http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions/suggestions/2498317-a-tightly-integrated-ecosystem

I know I am in the minority here, but I prefer the navigation the way it is now. I like not having the auto voice commands. I really don't find it difficult to tap the screen when i need to hear the next direction. Especially if I know where I am going for a certain part of the way. I also understand the need for automated voice. I think it should be an option if/when it is implemented.

In the UK, this works only the first time you run it after a factory reset. after that, the feature goes away.. that's just cruel!

Agree needs to be proper Turn by turn GPS with automated voice guidance built in, not current half way house. Hopefully either MS will fix or basic Nokia Drive will be available to all as current state of directions is odd and half finished.

It would be good though if there was a navigation hub; or at least Nokia Drive was intergrated in to Maps. It would be good if they remade maps with an equivilant of Nokia Drive intergreated into it for all phones.

kiddj55 is right. For the forseeable future, if you want voice guided navigation, buy a Nokia WP. I own one and it is great. For grins, I have used the Bing Maps as well and it's not bad, but the Drive app is wonderful.

Also, include the read-aloud directions for the walking mode. Currently, there is no turn by turn when walking.

Maps is a decent enough application already but needs to have Voice Navigation and have some extra layers and it could be a massive bonus if we have the option to download certain regions to our devices.

What would be really good is if they created a navigation hub, so your maps and gps, and any other navigation tools can all go there, rather than having them scattered all over the place.

If Windows Phone wants to be taken seriously, this broken feature must be fixed ASAP. The current version is dangerous and likely even ILLEGAL to use in places were everything must be all hands free. This tapping the screen requires attention diverted from driving. The **** sound make you LOOK at the screen to see what's next is even more dangerous.
As I said, this is a MUST FIX. I have my suspicions that the built-in app is being crippled so the app developers can sell the expensive solutions. Not acceptable. I'm a pretty loyal Samsung Focus user, but this is kind of a big deal and might make me think about an Android when I'm upgrade eligible in early 2012.
