If hapless playback works in ITunes there is no reason for it not to work in Xbox music on WP8 and Windows 8

Gapless Playback support in WP8 would be extremely nice. I'm with Rohan... I love my Lumia 920 but missing a simple feature like this is so annoying that it makes me question how serious Microsoft is to keep up.

I can't believe they got it working in the 7.5 OS only to upgrade to a new HTC 8X and find the gaps are back.

This is an unnecessary annoyance that has no place in any media player designed in the last decade, let alone one used in a brand new phone OS. I love my Lumia 920 but things like this make me wonder if I should stay with the platform long-term. Surely it should be easy to implement gapless playback with an update.

I had known the music player in Windows Phone 8 was this bad, I wouldn't have bought one in the first place. Returning my HTC 8X this weekend. It's embarrassing that my first generation iPod Touch has a better music player than the one in WP8.

Just downloaded a new electronic album directly to my phone with WP7.8... Cool.
Listening to the album I didn't hear the first gap... I got excited only to be disappointed by the next gap.BUT what about WP8? Another reason to upgrade?
No. -_-Get this implemented! It is these little details that detract from a quality user experience every day!

Wow. Microsoft is an absolute disgrace and should just step aside from the mobile OS competition.

really sad how MS just ignores so many basic, little things that would make this OS so much better.
gapless playback is basic, it's easy, and every other damned OS has done it for years. it's these kinds of little hangups that would push me back to iOS if they're not addressed.

Unbeleivable, a cool OS in 2012, but gaps and holes in playback like in a cheap player from 1990! Please, do your homework MS.

This is especially annoying because the gaps are often long enough to cause my bluetooth audio device to momentarily disconnect then reconnect making the gaps are even longer! Almost all my music is on the Phone so it shouldn't need to buffer anything. (Gracefully getting the music I want on the phone is another story, though!)

Absolutely agree with this, it seems like a really simple thing that just should be done.

I'm stunned that this tiny but massively important option is not somehow (easily) rectified, what, like 2 years later? Total deal breaker. Every single mp3 player I've ever used/owned has allowed me gapless playback, even the cheapy-cheapos. Its absurd that MS hasn't addressed this at all. I love my WP (even with all the proprietary silliness) but it looks like I have to go and buy a cheap-*** mp3 player to listen to my music properly. Pathetic.

Need this feature guys. Can't claim to be a leading smartphone and not check the basic boxes. Gapless playback in an app update or next OS update release please. The smartphone market is very competitive and we have lots of choices. Don't force us to move to other platforms for a feature that you can can delivery with your eyes closed. I mean c'mon you are the biggest software company in the world! Are you kidding me?

Just buffer the next song, too... and stop waiting for the useless next song animation. Is it really _that_ hard?

I'm returning my Lumia 920 because WP8 has no gapless playback. I listen to music 6 hours a day, and it totally ruins the seamless experience with about 60% of my albums.
