Ability to set a schedule of when to check e-mails (e.g. stop e-mail from being checked overnight)
I'm Nokia only and fan user since 16 years, I recently switch on Lumia, I work in a multi-continental company and receive emails, even calls 24h a day, as the time is virtual when you work with variable hours,
but as I have a family with children, even if I sleep, I need to stay in contact with them without interruption, this was possible with my old symbian, it's just a way back, please add profile for sync issue.
This is a must have. I used the scheduling in ActiveSync on Windows Phone 5 & 6 and co-workers also do so. It is not just an after midnight issue. There are many regular times when you don't want work intruding (after a certain time each day, on particular days of the week, holidays, etc). I don't have the luxury of being able to turn the whole thing off as I do need to check in regularly but at least then I am in control. This annoyance of the phone pinging every time an email arrives regardless of what day, time, etc it is is just annoying. Bring back scheduling...please.
Can this be done in general e.g. I have one Account for Work so I want the complete Work Account to stop alarming me on schedules set in the Calendar, getting E-Mails, receiving phone calls from Work Contacts, etc. in a specified time frame. I think alot more people would vote for that instead for only E-Mails? :)
Thanks to microsoft i have to wake up at 3.00 AM see my phone received an email. This a basic feature on smartphone.
please fix this
Please add to a future update this is very nice, especially for those in the IT environment that could get emails all night long but does not want to wake up to them every time.
again this kind of thinking should of been there at the start!! a company full of smart people, other phones exsist that can do this stuff and MS you just thought not having the cool features that exist on other platforms was the best way to go!!! Absolute Plop!
yes please !!!
That should be scheduled in a Night-profile with changing The ringtones

yes a general "profile" app or setting that maybe turns off the alerts for texts and emails at night, or maybe even automatically if it notices your calender is set to "in meeting"
This would work well in some type of Profile App: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions/suggestions/3428903-situations-for-windows-phone-gps-nfc-profiles
This has been possible in very very old nokia phones, but lacking in wp8. so sad..

It worked so well in Windows Mobile 6.5 - set a download schedule for Peak Times, and define the time period that applies. Off Peak times default to manual.
I currently have to go into Settings EVERY NIGHT and switch from "As Items Arrive" to "Manual" - what a pain.

Don H. - You shouldn't have to turn off your Data and WiFi every night. Just set your sync settings to manual.
This feature is combined with the Alarm profiles on Blackberry phones. This really needs to be a feature in all phones to prevent mail notifications during night time hours. If you can at least create a profile for mail and text notifications while the alarm function is active would be very helpful.

Coming from an Android phone to the Lumia 900 this is the ONE feature this OS sooooo needs. On Android it's called "Notify Once" where the phone will only notify you of an unread email once and collect the rest silently in the background until you check your inbox. This feature or something equivalent is sorely needed. I'm tired of having to shut off Wifi and Data every night manually.
Silencing the phone is not a good option as I need to be able to receive emergency calls 24/7

Please please please - I need some sleep!
Please implement like in WinMo. As others have said saves waking people up at night. And why waste battery syncing email when I am sleeping!?
Windows phone legacy had this feature, please bring it to your new OS.
That is a massive limitation. Please imlement similar functionality as in N9 (peak time and off peak time settings).
