I miss the speed dial feature ever since I got my phone 2 weeks ago. I have been trying to search for a solution and came to this site. I too want to tap on a tile to call a person with no further tapping required.

I really want to be able to unlock my phone, go to the dial screen, and hit a number to call a contact. The fact that I have to unlock my phone, go the contact list, find the person, click their name, THEN hit 'call' is a waste of time.

Its actually not really needed although I know what you people mean. What I do is put some of my contacts into "groups" under "together" in the people hub. Once I add the members into the group, I just pin it to my home screen. This way their information is just on my screen and I don't need a tile for every single person.

also dial via name using T9 support (so for "adam" I would hit 2326 and it would auto match to all adam's in my address book)

100 %, it's essential, this is very important and make the calls very easy, Microsoft should implement the speed Dial.

Should have 1 touch speed dial. I went from Droidx which had speed dial. 8X experience is set up tile, touch tile and determine whether to dial cell, text, home, office. I need one tile that dials upon touch...pretty basic. I have it on my landline phone in the office for most often used numbers.

Lightning dial on market or wait for 7.8 and add small tiles of the contacts on the start screen

This is not a feature or something like that. SPEEDDIAL is an essential for a phone.
Everything in Windows Phone is made for using wifi or cellular connections. Nothing seems to be made for 'just calling'. And thats essential for me. A phone is for 'just calling' people.

Pretty common feature indeed. And funny enough, Speed Dial #1 connects me with my voice mail. Need to figure out if that is a feature from the carrier or the phone...

Every other phone out there has this feature, even very old non-smartphones. In fact I can remember my first cell phone, over 10 years ago had this.
