Better podcast support

Podcast support is poor (at least for those of us outside the US).
1. You can't add a podcast subscription from your phone. This has to be done from the Zune client on PC. Perhaps opening an RSS feed in IE should surface an option to subscribe to it in Music+Videos.
2. You can't tell the phone to update your feeds and fetch new episodes. I'm not sure what logic it uses to determine when to download new episodes. But it's not predictable. If I want to listen to daily shown on my commute to work, this isn't possible, as it probably won't update feeds in the morning before I leave for work. Very frustrating, this one.
3. Enable Marketplace support for more markets.

I returned a new Lumia 720 to Amazon and went back to my old 710 mainly because of the lack of podcast support on WP8...

This is an absolutely stupid situation. I'm in the UK and podcasts are basically broken on the Lumia 820. I had a Mozart and could at least use Zune - obviously this is no longer an option.
I just want something that is simple and will work to sync my podcasts.

I would like to be able to manage Podcast files much like I can manage music, photos and videos. For example, when I install an SD card, I want to have the option to put Podcasts on internal memory and music on the SD card. As is, it just lumps Podcasts in with Music and the Podcast folder is hidden for some reason.

I would like to allow for a higher number of kept podcasts. Currently the choices are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or All. I would like to see the number increased to at least 10.

This initial complaint dates back to the middle of last year and is an obvious one. Unless MS begins to listen about functionality in the world that exists outside the US this platform will fail.

There is no podcast support in the UK so I would like any podcast support. In reality Windowsphone 8 is a downgrade if you liked podcasts.

I refuse to use an iProduct to integrate with my WP8 to add a podcast that is not in the store. WP7/Zune provided such a great (and wireless) podcast experience; sucks to have given that up by "up"grading. Soooooo...I can charge my phone without a wire connected to it, but to download a podcast I need to download it using Zune and copy/paste the files into "Music" on the phone (only to be played during shuffle music play). Disappointing.

Expose this podcast data to the web like on the zune.net site. Limiting this podcast data to WP & Windows 8 users only is missing out on the vast majority of the population.

Just updated phone to WP8 didn't realize there wasn't a integrated podcast manager. Outside phone calls and texting, podcasts are the most important aspect of my phone usage. For MS not to have support for this is crazy. Thank god for iTunes & podcasts system, didn't think I would ever reactivate iTunes but it is a lifesaver this time.

Please create an independent podcast platform. I have just returned my new Nokia 920 that I think is amazing with a brilliant WP8 interface because of the podcast issues. Third party apps are not a solution to a integrated Windows Podcast Store/Platform

Terrible podcast support on Windows Phone 8. Pretty awful considering how important this feature is in this day and age and even more so when Windows Phone 7 had a perfectly adequate podcasting solution.

I'm very embarassed to learn that after convincing my wife to give up her iPhone for WP8 she can now no longer listen to her beloved podcasts. I'm in the dog house and it looks like her WP8 is going to be returned for iPhone5. Another potential convert lost and I won't be exchangeing my WP7 until this is sorted! Come on Microsoft.

Is there any point in this? Microsoft don't seem to reply and I see no message that it's going to change.

Love the other aspects of my Lumia 820, but this lack of care could drive me away.

I can not understand why there are no native support for podcast outside US. I'm so disapointed with my new NOKIA Lumia 820...
i'm obliged to download an App. But even with this App, it can only download on the internal memory and not SD card, because of other Windows phone limitation...
Microsoft is late compare to Google (Android) or Apple (iOS).

Had I known this was not a feature on my Lumina 920 in Australia there is no way I would have touched this otherwise great platform. This is such basic functionality I did not even think to research it (I've been using it on iPods since 2005). Shocking on the part of MS. It is like they want this thing to fail.

They really need a "refresh button" on the podcast most frustrating thing ever to know you podcast is out you are heading home from work and there is no way to force it to download so you can listen to it!!!!!! if anyone figures away around this or can talk google into releasing "Listen" for windows... This and the XBOX music mess has me so mad I would switch back to Android in a heartbeat if I could!

There are a lot of good RSS Readers (NextGen Reader, Flux, Reader2Go, Wonder Reader).
Maybe they do what you're wanting.

In addition to all the other suggestions, I'd like to have podcast subscriptions backed up and set subscriptions to keep X number of unplayed episodes, rather than the X most recent. Syncing stop points across devices would be nice too.
