Custom sounds for SMS, MMS, Email, Notifications etc
Custom sounds for SMS, MMS, Email, Notifications etc, I know we can do ringtones on Mango but you can't set custom SMS sounds, email ect.
Thanks for your suggestion for custom sounds. Always great to see such great feedback and excitement about this feature. While we can’t promise to ship every suggestion that gets submitted, we will be sure that our product development team receives your feedback. What’s your great idea? Keep those votes coming!

I think this is just a no brainer to have. Just moved today from Iphone and I am considering going back although I love everything about this phone thats in there, its these little things that I took for granted that have to get into the software.

I was at the shop to by Lumia phone, but when i noticed that there is no chance to use your own message sounds I did not. Instead i bought Galaxy S3.
Nokia, please, leave the Windows os, if they cant´n make such a common feature.
It´s a feature, that was in all phones well over ten years ago! -

As much as I love my new windows phone I almost regret getting it because I can never hear when I have a text. The sound options for this are awful. My husband and I have had several confrontations on the time it takes me to respond to my phone so I need a sound that will get me attention. I find it hard to believe with all the advancements you guys actually went way backwards with the sound options other than the ringtones

Jef the reason its not there is Microsoft have decided we the users have too much freedom already and no really uses text and we have already grudgingly been given custom ring tones for people and should like good little children shut up and go away and be happy with the marvellous customisable technology we've already been given

I love love love the Windows phone, and the same technology that allows for custom ringtones should be able to be employed for custom notification sounds. All of the other operating systems have this feature as standard. Please work to create this rather simple idea into an update soon. That one little thing would be such a huge hit with the user base. Not sure why it isn't in there already.

It really is important to have custom sounds. My whole family has wp8 and it is so frustrating when we hear the same notification sound and don't know who it belongs to. Also, the current sound is too soft and short and my parents are hard of hearing and miss the sound. My mother's old blackberry could use voice recordings and she basically had us calling to her in the notification. This fact that this feature is not available means my mother continues to use her blackberry. Sort is out and appease many frustrated MS loyalists.

I'm stunned.
I'm a software developper. I can't see any technical reason why this feature is not in there. So basic. I still can't believe it, I spent all night looking for a solution on the web. -

Microsoft is specializing in dumb moves lately. They released a smart phone before its complete, and released a touch screen desktop before its time. They must have a team of monkeys working around the clock over there.

I really like my windows phone but this basic feature has me tearing my hair out. They allow custom ring tones but not alert tones?!?!!? Give me a break, what a dumb move.

Microsoft is crazy to think they are going to sell this phone, have these simple features missing, and it still be a success. Its like buying a brand new car with roll up windows. Without better SMS features in place, WP8 is a real fail!

I never imagined that this would be a missing feature in 2013. It is crazy. I could do this with my flip phone in 2004. Considering widgets are the same as live tiles (except they actually work), I am really considering going back to android with my next upgrade. I am a total windows fanboy. But, constantly finding the most basic features missing is wearing on me.

Nah, I don't think they are ignoring us. Perhaps they had some 16 years old nerd kid hack this part of the OS together, and so now, adding this requested feature unfortunately requires the entire OS to be rewritten. After all, remember how Microsoft started in the first place?
No, they're not ignoring us. They're grinding their teeth, and looking for the cheapest way to sack the one who was responsible for hiring that kid. -

Just saw online that Nokia is releasing an update which will activate FM radio and a lock screen clock, no mention of this feature that we are asking for, it doesn't look good; seems like Nokia is ignoring us just like Microsoft.

Managed to import my own ringtone by finding out what file name it needed but cannot do same for text alerts - seems from thread Windows phone (mine Nokia Lumia 710) cannot do this - must be easy feature and wanted by most!

Hey can some one create a hash tag for this? We seriously need more votes to show MS how much we really need this.
