Custom sounds for SMS, MMS, Email, Notifications etc
Custom sounds for SMS, MMS, Email, Notifications etc, I know we can do ringtones on Mango but you can't set custom SMS sounds, email ect.
Thanks for your suggestion for custom sounds. Always great to see such great feedback and excitement about this feature. While we can’t promise to ship every suggestion that gets submitted, we will be sure that our product development team receives your feedback. What’s your great idea? Keep those votes coming!

Everyone else has been able to do this for the past 5+ years. New technology, such as the windows phone, should have had this on it to begin with. I don't understand why this is not on there. There needs to be an update to the phone where they can add it on or something cause this is total ****.

@Alex Microsoft have done THE BARE MINIMUM to say listen to the community but it often seems we need to lawyers in writing these requests because with some many they say "done" but all they often done is to enable a way of achieving something like it but only sort of like we all asked for and only if your a programmer.or pay hard cash for something which should be built in and free

@Scotty I was going to say that they did complete 137 requests so far, but when I looked through them, many just marked completed or only partially completed. Like one with the battery percentage visible on the screen. It is completed, if you go the settings, but not on the screen - the way it meant to be done.

It'll NEVER happen take a hint Alex no matter how many people vote for this and other things that are equally broken Microsoft even though they've done them in Windows Mobile they're not going to do them in Windows Phone I've no idea why but they have decided to NEVER implement a real sound / alerts system, why I've no idea but whichever manager made this decision needs fired bet he's prompted for being a real Microsoft person whatever that is

Just switched to a HTC8x from a 5 yr old small flip Sony Ericsson phone, and I have to say I'm a little disappointed that I just lost a feature I used to have on my tiny little phone. Makes me wonder how hard it really is to add this customization?
I mean it seems like this idea has been requested for more than a year now and yet nothing has been done to change it? What's the point in asking users for suggestions if something this basic can't even be addressed in a timely fashion? I hope this forum isn't here for decoration cause I'm really tempted to change my phone if that's the case. :T

Just got a Nokia Lumia 800 Windows phone to find out that I can change the ringtone to one of my own but not the text alert. What is the point of having a phone that you can personalise by changing tiles on the home screen if you have to have the text alerts that Nokia load which are dull. Was going to recommend that my wife gets a windows phone when her upgrade is due but now reconsidering. I was hoping to use my jet fighter flyby sound as my text alert as I do not know anyone else in my family and friends who uses this alert and therefore i know that the message is on my phone. Come on upgrade this so we can change the text alert from a dull lifeless one to one that I can choose.

Its like the iPhone all over when it first launched. How are we suppose to suggest your phone with its Neanderthal technology! Seriously, I'm about to send it back and get an iPhone again!
