Finger skip in music player
Finger skip, or seek, taping or dragging over the playback bar. Just like in the video player. Now, forward/rewind buttons have to be pressed.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY TO DO THAT!
Every other Phone OS can do that.
PLEASE MAKE IT POSSIBLE!

I can't believe there's no such option/possibility!
Coming from iOS, it's a huuuge regression making me regreat to have swapped to WP.

Just so the WP team MS is aware its calendar year its 2012!
I am on lumia 920 + wp8 and i dont have a way to seek while playing music. Forward / Rewind button simply skip to next song when phone is being woken from sleep but still locked. Pls make it so that I can go to a simply seek to specific part of the song.

I want to have this feature on the lock screen too, currently there is no playback bar here. It’s really frustrating when you are listening to a podcast and try to change the position; you have no idea how much you have moved.

That's why I call the zune on WP7 a half baked one. This lacking implementation of full capable zune led me return the beautiful Samsung Focus back to ATT store where I bought. I had a high hope on this mango update, still they ignored it. Instead they moved the bottom music player option to the top which is not convenient if you are using a bigger screen device with just single hand (that's why we need smartphone for smart purposes). Also before mango, we could simply swipe the picture of the playing music to change to different one. I don't know if this is dead or alive after mango which would pretty much work for forward or backward control eliminating the need to create separte controls on the top. Aslo, onscreen volume control is really appreciable on this aspect just like iphone. I am still waiting for the maturity of the OS since mango doesn't address that department.

WP7 does not deserve to compete with the real mobile OS. I found so many things that lack that I will definitely switch to iPhone again. At least my WP7 phone was free.
Music is extremely important to me, but the otherwise acceptable Zune client from the PC or the Zune HD didn't make it to the phone. No seek, no volume control, no way to bring up the music controls in an app. What the heck? This is functionality even feature phones have.
No static IP, no VPN, no WPA2 Enterprise, no Outlook sync, no real Facebook integration, no Skype, no IM client, nothing exceptional except the good UI on the first sight. This phone is a brick.

The reason I wanted to return the Samsung focus immediately I bought was the broken zune software in the OS. This is terrible like the forward and backward button to be pressed for audio and video playback instead of swiping back and forth. No way to control the volume in the screen, has to be the physical hardware button. With mango, the location of the playback buttons on the top (stupid idea in terms of easy), no virtual shutter button, has to be either tapped or dedicated camera button. Those all things just make a sense that MS is just trying to be too different from the other platforms. While that is good but they didn't realize the sacrifice they had offered in the easyness that is found in those features which the other platforms have. At the end, I returned the handset, since i was not satisfied with the zune player and the camera option, although I liked the UI very much especially the virtual qwerty keyboard, even better than apple.

I'm astonished by the lack of this basic functionality in an otherwise flawless UX

Yes, please. Really a pain, especially in long podcasts...not only useful for DJs ;-)
