I had to return my HTC 8X because of this problem. Every other platform can handle encrypted email except WP8.

I don't understand why this isn't included. WP6 had no trouble with s/mime. Now I need to either get two phones or ditch WP8 altogether.

I work for a multinational corporation for our email Service S/MIME support is mandatory, with my Windows phone I am not able to synch calendar and emails, now who wants to have emails use iphones or android.

WP8 without full S/MIME support has no sense at all !!!

What are you waiting for, Microsoft??? this is what a smartphone is all about, secured and integrated with your company.. but must of all, SECURED!!!

Hi, I can´t believe that this is NOT supported :-((((. As an MS MCT and Exchange Trainer I have buyed a Nokia 920 to show my students the Integration of smartphones. I have many customers, who contact me with encrypted Emails. I can´t open them on my Windows phone (Released in 2012, not 1992). This really has to be fixed very quick

        Microsoft Outlook supports it.
        Mozilla Thunderbird supports it.
Windows Live Mail supports it (though cipher suites are limited to insecure ones)
Microsoft Outlook Web Access (Exchange 2007) supports it via ActiveX (don't recommend using it, though)
        VMware Zimbra supports it.
        Windows Phone 6.x supported it.

Since some time in 2012 both Apple's iPhone and Android devices support it. The new BlackBerry devices support it.
But Windows Phone 7.x and 8 still don't. This needs to change. ASAP.

Shocked that this isn't included, thought it was pretty basic need to be honest and my old WM6.5 phone could do it, why can't WP8?!

      • AdamAdam commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Only 205 votes. Since 99% of the business world decide not to use WP8 because of this, only those of us who made the mistake of buying one are here to ask for the feature. The decision makers on WP8 team are just dumb.

Come on guys this really is a must!

SMIME is a critical security feature that should be implemented into Windows Phone 8.

I don´t understand Microsoft. This is extremely important and critical to our business. Even iOS supports S/Mime. Without this, we won´t roll out WP8.....I speak about 900 devices!!!

This is critical to our business, looks like we'll be sticking to iOS devices.

Very Very Important for our Firm, we have HTC with WP 6.5 and s/mime runs !! Now we are tested Nokia Lumia 920 WP 8 and s/mime not Runs !! Why ???

      • Anonymous commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

This is crucial for the Business! Without S/Mime, we won't have it as one of our >10000 mobile devices..

I had been planning on getting a Lumia 920, but lack of s/mime support is a dealbreaker for me.

Oh dear - I was hoping to see a note that this was now supported in Windows Phone 8...
