When playing music and plugged in (or whatever) have an option to not a. not lock the screen or b. use the Zune-style wallpaper

WE NEED THE ZUNE HD SOUND PERIOD! The same chipset as the Zune HD. Its not fair that the iPhone sounds so good!

This is a major missing feature for me. It's one of the standout features of the Zune HD and it makes me feel like the Windows Phone music player is missing some polish. I really wish that every Windows Phone would have a "Zune HD built in" like we heard way back when the platform was announced, but the screensaver is a major part of the Zune HD Experience and there's no logical reason for it to be missing.

Of course there are other missing features like the stellar sound quality, HD Radio, and the docking port with HDTV output, but these are hardware issues so it's hard to blame the platform for that. A pure software feature like the Now Playing Screensaver should really be in there to give it an extra polished feel and to give it a WOW factor that people will ask about when they see it. Little touches like that can really help a platform spread by word of mouth.

It might consume battery, but who cares. Must have feature, no doubt about that.

Kentc is right. Go to you lock+wallpaper settings and turn on Show artist when playing music. Not as robust as the PC Zune software, but pretty cool!

It really is a special, jaw-dropping visual effect. I was sad not to see it when I got my phone (especially after having had the Zune HD), and I am pretty confident it is both technically possible and logistically cohesive with Windows Phone design.

This idea is exactly what wp7 could use to set itself apart from the other smartphones. I use my phone to play music at work thru a Bluetooth speaker and its always on the charger so the battery is not an issue for me. An app developer could easily create an app that would provide this functionality on any smartphone or tablet platform.

Doesn't the What's Playing on the Lock Screen give you this functionality? (its a setting that is off by default)

        please add this :)
One of the things that made Zune HD just that more awesome.
Was it just me? I would keep the player out and inview when in public, cuz i thought the visual looked so cool

The visualization of the Zune Software and Zune HD are the best! Please bring them to Windows Phone!
