Add support for all popular streaming video and video file formats to match iPhone and Android

There are many video services such as TWiT and BBC iPlayer which require Http Streaming which prevent them supporting Windows Phone.

I'm not sure if HTTP Live Streaming is exactly the same as Smooth Streaming, but our church services are broadcasted over the internet using that.
I have to use a third-party app called BitGravity Player (Silverlight player) and manually configure a long address to watch.
iOS and Android 3 users just go to our website and hit play.

Totally agree , serious drawback not having iplayer !!

BBC iPlayer support is a must, its fully supported on iPhone and Android, This means that these users mock me as an "inferior product" user, and, you know what? I can't argue on this front. New Phone due in August, lack of iPlayer support could easily be a deal breaker for me!

Oh, and it won´t help supporting it in the form of apps, you need to support it in the browser!!! There is a new trend these days: responsive design. TV companies in Sweden/Norway etc no longer pay for app development - they just stream to browsers supporting the formats HLS and Flash...

Our national television (SVT) won´t stream content to WP because of this limitation. Same goes for NRK, BBC... etc. I´m not buying WP8 until MS get their act together on this issue. Just fix it... Now... :(

Agree, Microsoft are not doing themself's any favours by the lack of consistency across platforms. Instead of acting along, perhaps its time we saw commonality within the mobile industry.

The BBC iPlayer needs to be supported for the UK market. The lack of this one app is killing the windows phone uptake.

This omission stops tons of Apps, especially from small or emerging countries and it makes it so much more difficult for someone there to decide for WP rather than Adroid or the iTopdog
