A choice of LED, Sound, and/or vibration is wonderful.
It should be up to the user how they want to be notified, though.
I shouldn't have to turn my screen on to see IF I have something.
I should have to turn my screen on to see WHAT I have.

Unless you carry your phone with you 24/7 and treat it like an extra appendage, a reminder "chirp" is an absolute must-have. It's ridiculous to have to wake the phone up every 5/10/15 minutes to see whether or not you missed a call/text.

For cryin' out loud, my old "dumb phone" has this feature!

Needs to be an audio reminder!! LED reminder is not adequate, and yes, optional of course.

I rarely get calls on my mobile phone and it's so annoying to always check the phone if at home, for me a missed call reminder is a top 3 must have for a phone.
Of course it should be an option to switch on and off.

If something like this would make it then I do hope they make this opt-in instead of opt-out. I mean; its a nice idea to have some kind of reminder, but on the downside such a reminded will also gobble away at your battery. Esp. with something like a flashing led and such (there is a good reason why many phones - not just the Windows phone - have abandoned the whole blinking led setup).

It's a Windowsphone, so why not blink the Windowsbutton after a voicemail or call etc. while the screen is off.

Would be highly useful to have a function like: vibrate every 1,5 or 10 Minutes as long as there are unread messages, emails and missed calls. The idea of a flashing screen or a "dead pixel" for those devices without LEDs would be cool too.

reminder with a vibration might not always work. you can built a "dead pixel" simulation on the screen which lights up when there is a missed call or an unread sms. there is a similar app on android phones called "NoLed"

This is especially annoying since there is no way to achieve this functionality with apps, since these can not access the number of missed calls/sms/notifications even when they could run in the background.
