allow any music file to be a ringtone

Any audio file the phone is capable of playing should be allowed to become a ringtone, irrespective of file size/quality/length/sampling rate/format to make changing easy.

[How can this not already be standard? Any audio file should be available for ringtones, text alerts, calendar alarms. It's not "my phone" if I have to choose from a few canned Nokia tones, or fight through some 3rd part SW to create a short, low quality song snippit. This is an absolute fail. ]

Ringtone & messaging alike. I just purchased the Lumina, It truly baffles me, that 'Windows' doesn't have this. It's all about individuality 'eh.

I couldn't believe it is not possible to use my songs as ring tones. The cheapest phone I ever had would allow me to do so without converting and limiting file size, not mentioning any Android... I've been really disappointed with the several problems I've found on my Windows Phone... And considering I would keep using my old Android =(

I've been doing this for years with Blackberry. How is this not a feature incorporated with WP. We should also be able to change the sounds by using any song, sound or ringtone we choose. Why is it such a headache just to create a simple ringtone? Ringtone genre category? Common guys, this is a no brainer.

We don't want to waste our time to edit music to set it as our ringtone because it's ridiculous. We have to look for programs, we have to learn how to use it, we have to edit track and we don't want to do all that stuff. Mine 7 year-old nokia 3230 already allowed to set any music I want as ringotne. Remove stupid restrictions, please!

if your phone is a music player why not add the ability to make the song you're listening to into a ringtone?! no brainer

It is very disheartening that after paying so much, I can not turn my music into ringtone; if I want to, it’s very lengthy process to cut, convert and transfer. Don’t expect me to be that tech savvy or a customer. In this busy world when one is already busy and tired don't have time for all this. Even cheap phone has this feature. Please consider this u may loose your customers.

yes a phone rings for one min and five secs, so that sjould be the allowable length of a rt track

I spent also about 30min to change my ringtone. "Funny" part is that i have to cut my own guitar playing to 40sec to be accepted a ringtone. This is RIDICULOUS. I am very disappointed. Please do something about it quickly.
