There will be standard now. Bluetooth for dock speakers, and induction wireless charging. i bet apple will keep doing it's only stuff to extra- charge but it seams everything moves that direction

Use the Zune dock port on the bottom of all phones. That way, all phones can use the same speaker docks, alarm docks, etc.

it can be micro-USB but it has to be placed on a standard place, and enforce it as another hardware requirement. Having a micro USB on top of a smartphone kills all the docking ability. :P

Yes, cannot agree more. It strikes me as the way to get more WindowsPhone sales is to get third-parties to create the accessories.

Currently, you can buy pretty much anything you want with a iPhone/iPod dock built in (stereo, carkit, TV, deskstand, clock radio/charger, toaster etc etc) and this is because Apple pretty much standardised the connector and its location.

Where as, you cant even get a good car kit for other phones, as the usb and headphone sockets are in difficult positions (the side is hopeless for a drop in car cradle) and are different on every model.

Mandate a micro usb power/sync socket on the bottom along with a headphone jack and you've got the ability to make any number of docks. If it is always the same, the Walmart style box shifters will make stuff for it, as they know a huge number of devices will use it where as currently they'd need a different one for each and every model of phone.

I would prefer an Industry wide standard, like the micro USB connector: To cite the sencence from AUTOSAR: "Cooperate on standards, compete on implementation"

Yes, this is very important! Apple owns the aftermarket accessory market, and in order for WindowsPhone to do good it must be competitive in this sector

Make the Zune connector port standard on all Windows Phones. Then we can be assured that if we buy a speaker dock, it will work with any Windows Phone we buy, just like it worked with any Zune we bought.
