Alarm can wake phone up from being switched off

If the phone is switched off, the alarm will still sound. Why its not already possible I have no idea.

I'm pretty annoyed about this myself. Every other phone I've had allows me to switch the phone off and set an alarm that will wake the phone (and me) at the same time. It's beyond comprehension that WP8 doesn't support this. What about low power? I want my phone and battery off overnight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes this comes very handy when device battery is low..

Also if possible I'd like voice control to snooze and dismiss alarm

This is basic functionality. I was pretty shocked to find this didn't work and am surprised by the low number of votes.

Wtf are you talking about Steve, I've owned loads of phones and they ALL wake up when your alarm is set to go off.. Even NOKIAS from the early 90's do!!!! But not this lumia

"Switched off" You mean set to silent, or vibrate, right?
I know of no app that will turn a phone on if it's switched off.

        @adel Boutros

I think you are missing the point!!

If you don't turn on your phone, the alarm won't work, this is the point this thread is all about. Its obviously not that 'Smart' if it can't do something as basic as this.

Why do you have to shut it down? Smart phones are meant to be smart and stay alive. If you want to turn off all the features, then use the airplane mode!! Your alarm will still sound but everything else will be off. Smart solution no??

This should be standard since the first release. Please look to all other nokia phones and just add new features without taking out the good things they have.

this is very disappointing. I bought the Lumia 920 last week and I nearly missed important meeting in office the next day. They say it's a smart phone, but now I rely on my old, battered, not that smart but useful, nokia 5610 which I bought ages ago, and it wakes me up every morning nicely, with customizable song file and snooze time. Think of future, but pls remember the basics.

I did not understand it: every Nokia i`ve had for the last 14 years had this feature. Now the first morning i relied on my new Lumia 620 and i nearlly missed my flight back home... You have to apologize but i wish the nerd who is responsable for this development to ****! So pleas change it!!!

[The alarm on the Windows 8 phones is so shockingly lacking in features - can't change volume, can't change snooze time, won't go off if the phone is turned off. These features have been available on almost all mobile phones for 20 years now Microsoft..... Please fix it - have had to buy an alarm clock for the first time in a couple of decades.]

Very very Important feature! Woke up today morning to find that the phone was frozen! Almost missed my appointment! Nokia had it in stone age phones now what happened to the geek boys! Please get us this feature!

Good feature I would love to have it on Lumia 920. It works so wonderful on Nokia N8.

I agree--the alarm should work even if the phone is turned off. May be a very important feature when traveling and, for instance, sleeping where there is no power outlet (like on trains).

      • JoeJoe commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

This would be extremely helpful for people who get woken up easily. If there was a setting to keep the phone off while charging and then turn itself back on in the morning to activate the alarm this would be brilliant!

What if you are without your charger and need to wake up in the morning, but have limited battery power? This would solve that problem as well.

no it is also possible in nokia small phones like nokia 1112 or nokia 2626. they are just of 2K to 3K but they have this feature.
