Please, Microsoft. It can't be that hard. Third Party developers are able to do in seconds...

For those who wish to read web pages without the autorotation, I have just discovered that UC Browser includes a rotation lock. Still trying to figure out how to make it my default browser, but I am half way to a solution. This shows that it can be done if only Microsoft would install it in IE.

Another reason for locking autorotate is for electronic boarding passes. When I place my phone on the scanner, the image rotates and the bar code block goes off screen causing me to have to twist the phone around several times to get the image to stay in place and holding up the line. All the iPhone and Android users behind me get very annoyed.

I want my screen to stay fixed. I hate it when it rotates with out my consent.it makes reading difficult while in bed.

I have been a hardcore Nokia fan....now finally have run out of options to defend my Lumia....absense of auto rotate feature would stil be the deal breaker though for me to now finally buy an android again.. (i had previously purchased a relatively cheap Samsung anroid device and found it a real piece of ****)...but now I need to go back at it....

I think windows does not encourage to lay down to use your phone. They are still in the desktop/laptop age!!!!

I agree with you guys. I just bought a new lumia 820 as a second phone. I wasn't aware of this useful feature missing in Windows Phone. I am missing android software!!!!. I can't blame nokia for this. Thinking of selling it for an android phone.....

This is a most stupid design.

If microsoft engineering can't design, that's ok. Just copy iOS and Android .

Got a LG Win8 loaner from Telstra whilst waiting for repair of broken screen on my Galaxy S1. What a piece of junk and as everyone has been requesting since 2011 can't stop autorotate - ridiculous! Glad I didn't have to buy this, lookingh forward to my new Galaxy S4 next month

Could this be merged with "Feature to lock orientation to either landscape or portrait" and all the other feature requests that request orientation lock ? Because I'm sure it would make its way to the first page of top requested features then...
