  i just got a lumia phone now and basic search feature is lacking, dont know what else MS has screwed up

  I thought the main functionalities of smartphone are: music player, web browser, email and app.
  can't believe WP8 doesn't have local music search

  I'm frankly stunned we even have to request this. It's kinda right up there with the ability to change the volume...

  I have about 3000 songs on there and am supposed to scroll alphabetically to find?!

  I couldn't agree more with what was said below. Just got my Lumia 920 and am really happy with it. However, It is simply unbelievable that there is no search functionality in My Music.

  There also doesn't seem to be a way to view recently purchased music - or perhaps I'm just missing that.

  Agree that cheapest mp3 player (doesn't even have to be from the fruit company) is superior to the WP music player experience

  Lack of ability to search your own music is mind blowing!!!
  i don't know of any phone/platform or music player that doesn't offer this feature. heck even zune offered, so I am not sure what MS is gunning for here, but if MS thinks that every user should be using jump list and constant scrolling then i am sorry, you are simply not listening to your user base. i am on NOK 920 and for me to find and search my own music after syncing up is too tedious task!!

  Lacking this feature is bringing this phones multimedia capability to pre ipod UI times. Certain aspects of a WORKING smartphone are expected. This is one of them. I returned my Lumia today, and begrudgingly went back to an iPhone. This is just unacceptable Microsoft.

  Windows phone 8 still doesn't support this???? Do we need to wait for another 2 years or we should switch to an iPhone?

  it sounds funny that no search option is given in music app ........one cannot call windows phone as music phone

  in playlist maybe a search button works really good or press hold hardware search button also work

  use the search button, when in Zune. Then search local stored music.

  this is incredibly simple, but not integrated feature in wp7. i just don't get the piont? i have 16gb's of songs, and i am completely lost in them. this phone is useless when you're driving a car, and listen music.
