I think WP is the only platform where it's impossible to send videos to others using Whatsapp or app like that. This really turns people into the decision of getting other phones... you'd better change this!

In particular some .wmv files don't play on the phone which is beyond comprehension on a windows phone.

Shamrock Soft developed and published first free Windows Phone player which plays exclusively flac files. Now Flac player is able to download files from Sky Drive Microsoft cloud and playback them offline. If application became popular we will extend functionality with ability to download files from internet using URL. Shamrock Soft are also planing to develop separate version for Windows Phone 8 with ability to playback flac files from SD card.

My Nokia C6-01 Symbian Belle support to play .mkv and .avi format plus they can read external Subtitle but my windows phone lumia 710 cant. As a university student i need this feature. I hope you can add this features.
ps : dont tell us to do conversion to solve this problem. :)

Please please PLEASE add MKV support for WP8...

MKV is the container/format of choice for a majority of HD videos these days, and i'll love to be able to play these on my phone without having to convert them first. I have a Lumia 920 and want to watch my MKV catalogue on it's beautiful screen!!

You could keep it as an optional install extra if you're worried about size... there are those of use who would love it and def use it!

I also agree that a wider ranger of formats should also be supported (esp. avi, flac & divx). There's nothing worse than waiting for something to CONVERT before having to use it. C'mon People - this isn't iOS ;oP

Who has time to convert video files fr phone?
Bring support fr avi, mkv, and a graphic eq fr music n i,l never go back to android or iphone!

WP's should play no less formats that what can be played with WMP. If you're trying to reduce the software footprint on the phone then the Zune software should at least provide conversion support to files and videos that aren't in the current phone supported formats. Also, you need to split the Music & Video files. Why would you have music and videos under the same file and not pictures also. We should be able to split or combine those files/folders under one or multiple tiles.

this was suppose to replace your zune payer, you would never know it. still waiting for a windows phone with media/audio capabilities comparable to an ipod or even the zune(you could connect it to tv at least and watch/share your content).
I bought an Iphone solely because of it, it was phone/ipod. Microsoft is moving in the right direction, they just need more focus on the small stuff that makes alot of difference for every feature they offer on the phone. ex. audio, video, camera, mass storage, Bluetooth/Wifi connectivity the list goes on

Very poor audio support on WP7. Very good open source codecs missing. Why?
