I actually use Mozilla over IE solely because I can synch my 'bookmarks'. (They are called bookmarks in Mozilla and favorites in IE).
According to all the release material about Win8, it is suppose to do that automaticly if you sign into your device (tablet, laptop, desktop). I would love to see the phone included in that list of devices!

Would like the mesh compartment of skydrive to be accessible by the phone. ie, I use mesh to keep my more important files up to date. I might want to access such a file when on the move.

I think bookmark sync is a basic feature. For me it's almost as important as contacts sync.
It should be easy to implement along with passwords and browsing history sync.

I got my wp7 last week and was very disapointed not having it. iOS and android 4 have it. (android 2.3 doesn't though )
On wp7 there isn't even a way to import bookmarks from a html file, that's a big fail to me.
I just hope that we're not gonna have to wait for wp8 to have it.
Thats about 6 moths wait for a simple feature, and I don't want to go back to android

This would really be awesome. Especially with Selective Sync, so we can choose not to sync certain subfolders.

In my mind, this is an essential feature. We should be able to take a photo and have it automatically sync with Skydrive and then, ideally, automatically sync onto a desktop PC from Skydrive.

I think this is the major lacking feature, both in case of failure and when upgrading to a new handset. I thought the recent release of the skydrive app might allow browsing of files that I've backed up with Live Mesh, but no :-(

Great idea and Alfredo M explains it well. I am reasonably sure that MS are working on merging LiveMesh and Skydrive together to form one ecosystem and that technology will then be integrated in Win8 and WinPhone8 as well.

I would think that part of that process would include features as described here. Actually MS has a lot of potential with this type of service. I would like to see it go beyond just IE bookmarks, but also things like

        1. Office settings,
        2. User profile settings,
        3. Possible even any IM messages, SMS etc,
        4. Incorporate the backup management,
        5. All other current Skydrive and LiveMesh features.

This would give us great flexibility to work in multiple environemtns and ensure that our data is synced at all times, and backups are done.

of course I would expect a fair degree of user options in this area
        1. Opt out to avoid large data usage for those on small data plans.
        2. Sync when on WiFi only.
        3. Choose what to sync. Posible choose how often to sync (either at certain times of the day or at timed intervals)

        Dan.

its a sadly missing feature which needs added this year and Alfredo I agree extra point for them if they can get it implemented for SMS too another reason if you use Microsoft Live(Mesh), Microsoft Phone, Microsoft Internet Explorer together can't be hard to see the advantage so come on Microsoft see the big picture

I agree with this wholeheartedly. The favorites feature in Windows Phone 7, even after the Mango update is EXTREMELY lacking. I'm a huge browser user and this is one of my biggest gripes when looking at my iPhone against my Lumia 800. There needs to be a way to sync bookmarks to the phone (and back to Windows Live). The phone also needs to be able to support Folders for bookmarks, rather than one huge scrolling list of sites.

Would love to sync web browser favorites from Windows 7 laptop to WP7 via Windows Live Mesh

Getting more specific with this, it would make sense for Microsoft to consider making it in sub folders, so say for example all my mobile formated urls (think m.bing.com) can still be synced with desktop but then a user would know that the formatting in those links are inteded for mobile devices, then desktop urls like ones with rich formatting (flash/etc) can still be available to mobile devices but we'd all know those links may not display properly, lastly... a shared subfolder where links we access on both mobile and desktop (despite formatting) can be synced as well.

extra point for giving the ability to long hold on a url and 'share' (via email/twitter/messenger/sms) is implemented as well

What do think about subfolders? I would appreciate that as well.

Agreed! I've been a windows user for years & recently I setup Windows Live Mesh and it works like a treat!....it would be great if future Windows Phones would support Mesh, as I've got an iphone currently & I hate it, my next phone will be a Windows phone.....it great that it supports SkyDrive but Live Mesh would be the final cherry on top!

I think this would be a very important feature for WP because Microsoft is always trying to bring all devices such as computers, notebooks and smartphones to the same level and this would support this vision very much.
