Would love this feature to prevent the screen locking/going blank when connected to power in the car.
Lile Symbian, android and ios apps.

Guys, I think your phones are broken. AFAIK, WP7 is not designed to shut down when USB powered. I once kept my phone connected to the USB port without knowing, and when I discovered that (around 2.3 hours later) my phone was on. Perhaps your phones shut down for extreme heating or something.

I just started the same suggestion under "music & video" since that is when I need this feature the most. I added votes here, too.

YES!!! This would be a really awesome feature, and it would improve safety for anyone who uses their phone with a dashboard mount while driving. At the very least, have settings within maps and music+videos to disable the lock screen when those apps are running and the phone is charging.

As I understand it, there's only a couple WP7 phones out there, depending on which version they're running, that have a "never" option for the lock screen timer. The vast majority, including my Samsung Focus S running 7.5, do not.

You might try a reboot and sync again. The support forums are here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/

You will get a better response there.

You can make the display stay on all the time:
Settings > lock+wallpaper > tap: Screen times out after > never
But, you have to change it or it will stay on when you want it to turn off.

Ok, trying to do a long sync, and my phone keeps timing out and turning off, breaking sync. I also use the phone when powered in my car. My navigation program keeps the screen alive, but nothing else does. I have unlimited power so I don't have to worry about saving the battery. It's nice to have the music screen, maps, or other apps on and not shut off.
