What a massive backward step for Nokia and Windows phone to not have the ability to save/download text messages.....!!!!

If I knew that I wouldn't be able to access my texts from my phone I never would have gotten the WP8. I am in the middle of a custody battle with my ex-husband and these messages are the only thing I have to help me. I can't believe I have to keep up to three years worth of message strings on my phone with no way of printing or even exporting them.

Really important matter : my text messages are part of my life , I want to keep a track of this or export them the way I like.
iOS and Android allows this , it's not that hard to provide an outlook option "export your backed up sms/mms" to give access to the XML file

It is the biggest disappointment with my new windows phone that I cannot see backed up texts on skydrive. This was a very good feature in previous Nokia suite. Microsoft, rectify this please.

It has been a function of every mobile device since its inception! Microsoft seems to obsessed in copying the iPhone! Keep to your basics, as you will eventually drive Windows user to Android! By July I will be getting an Android after 20 years of using Nokia

I hope there will be added a function to backup and restore sms messages. In several forums i searched for alternatives...

I need to be import and print (digitally or physically) the text messages on my phone. I am in the middle of a custody battle with my ex-wife and I need to print my text messages for my attorneys and possibly for the court.

If you are not planning on making this possible (like Android does) can you please let me know what I need to do to get Microsoft to get me MY messages? Thank you.

I would like to see my backed up text messages in outlook.com. I know they are hidden, but it is my data stored on the sky drive and by law I should be able to view this. Please advise why I can not. Is this another case of Microsoft breaching the rules and doing as they like. Is this another case for the law courts? Microsoft this is a great feature but use common sense and let the public view there own stored private data. Thank you.

I was told on one of the forums that this was a requested feature for restoring the phone. Requested feature? by who? I don't send anything In a text or chat that would be essential to restoring my phone. Pushing thje envelope on the constitution I would say.

View! I need to be able to view backed up SMS messages in either Skydrive or Outlook.com. Also, I don't want the SMS messages deleted when I delete them from my phone.

      • RyanRyan commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Agreed, it would be nice to have a way to view message threads in Skydrive and save them there even if they've been deleted from the phone itself.

This is supposed to already be a feature... but I think there is a (rational) assumption that this would mean access to the backup data itself... While it's great to hear my WP8 phone is being backed up, really want to be able to verify/see this is the case on Skydrive.

Ensuring a smooth transition from other platforms is the easiest way to get people to recommend your platform.

      • Anonymous commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

What is needed is to be able to import sms messages from other platforms smoothly (especially symbian) so that new users can start off with a good impression. Such a move shows that MS / Nokia cares about its new users and wants to encourage people to move to their platform.

It is absolutely necessary to be able to back up, print, and DOCUMENT text messages. i could at least do this with Nokia suite.
