Incredible that my old Nokia 6021 manages it without trouble and my brand new flashy Nokia Lumia 920 cannot... :-(

If the OP is worried about unwanted calls coming in during the night and battery consumption leaving the phone on, he answer is simple - set it to flight mode. With all the radios etc off, battery consumption falls to very low levels and yet the clock and alarm will still work. When you wake up and want the phone to receive calls again, put it back out of flight mode. Sorry but while there are significant bugs yet to be fixed - remote wired headphone functionality under Windows Phone 7.x and very basic missing features such as a call times log, I cant vote for something with such a simple workaround already possible like this...

My phone often turns off in the night and then the alarm doesn't wake me. Big problem.

This is similar an auto startup/shutdown request I saw earlier. I like this idea. This is a feature of a BB phone I had. If your phone is off, and you set the alarm while it's off, the phone will wake to sound the alarm. Love that feature!

I don't get the people below who states this will never happen, can't be done etc. Well if my old Sony Ericcson Elm can do it, why not my new state of the art Lumia 920!? Of course it will use a little bit of power, but still far less than having the phone turned on. Because of switching from my Elm to the Lumia 920, I now have to have the phone turned on and risk being wakened by someone calling me at night; whether it being from drunkness or any other reason. This really ****** me off.

How did the old warhorse Symbian managed it? Of course the phone is not completely off, if the clock is running, but it's still just the clock that's using power

All Nokia phones with symbian working that way. It's normal, turn off phone, alarm turn on.

Please explain how the phone will set the alarm off if there is no power to the phone? This is like saying please make the alarm go off when I have a dead battery?

This is never going to happen because the phone wont be off if the alarm clock works
