Fix the compass problem at southern hemisphere
The compass in southern hemisphere is always wrong, no matter which manufacturer, or which app we are using. and the value is always 180 degrees, resulting in problems with augmented reality apps, which shows stores that are in front of us, in the phone they appear right behind us. thats pretty annoying.
Bill choked on this one! How the **** is this not higher priority in a time when augmented reality and phone based navigation software is becoming standard. Seems like a pretty hefty flaw IMO. Pretty embarrassing for a figure as big as MS

I vote for this. It is an annoyng problem. I can't even use Microsoft Photosynth, because the compass never calibrates.
Was hoping against hope that 7.8 would fix it. Shame, no go. What the **** is MS going to do about this? I've posted on so many MS forums and we never hear a **** thing. Just total and utter **** service. Isn't location supposed to be a key enabler? WTF are they doing?

Still borked in 7.8. Seriously, Microsoft...... ALL navigational apps are crippled in the southern hemisphere because of this.
Some compass apps (I am aware of at least one b/c I wrote it) have a compass offset that allows you to fix the problem with the app (it won't fix the problem for the whole phone). Mine is Jack of Tools Pro but, in a quick search, I found another one too. The Compass Offset is on the Settings screen toward the very bottom.
Jack of Tools Pro
Hope that helps.
not fixed in 7.8!

This has been an issue for some time and I've been struggling to find someone who can resolve it.
As best I can tell there is an overflow at 255 degrees:
