Skype Intergration for WP7.8
Skype needs to be integrated into people hub like Facebook. Allow Skype to run in the background to receive calls and notifications.
We are truly floored by the number of feature suggestions that we have received and the excitement about future Windows Phone releases. Some of you have been wondering, “Will Windows Phone 7.8 have the same features as in Windows Phone 8?” The answer, unfortunately, is no. Windows Phone 8 is a generation shift in technology, which means that it will not run on existing hardware. BUT we care deeply about our existing customers and want to keep their phones fresh, so we’re providing the new Start screen in the upcoming 7.8 update. We’ll have more to share on the Windows Phone 7.8 update in the coming weeks.

If its imposible to run skype in bg mode make at last toast or raw notifications about incoming message or call which can inform user about it or maybe even run the app.

Find a way to let Windows Phone 7 Customers upgrade their devices to Windows Phone 8 devices. Windows Phone 8 is awesome and existing Phone 7 Customers can see this.
I am certain 90% of existing Windows Phone 7 customers would upgrade their devices if they were allowed to do so at new contract rates. Give them all a customer loyalty incentive and let them extend their contract and get new phones for Black Friday rates.
Who would not upgrade to an HTC 8X or Lumia 920 for $99.00 and $49.00 respectively
In this day and age of carrier contracts you should never have a phone over 2 years anyway.

It's a shame. There is no hardware problem, if someone calls me from the sim card, and it runs in the background, so the voice features can be used in the background, so... and skype can use the microfone and the speaker in the background.

seriously. customers are like elefants: they remember stuff like this very well! and i just bought my girl a lumia 800 just to find out that skype cant run in background mode. and this is like the only reason i bought the phone for. i thought i'd give winphone a shot, microsoft in general. and now that. so get your **** together, and bring that stuff with an update, and dont ******** around with hardware restrictions. we are the early adopters of your product. we are the ones telling other people to use your phone and software, OR NOT! you cant force marketshare by making whatever how many ads. you need people to tell other people how cool this **** is.
****, rant rant rant!!!!

Skype integration and ability to run in the backgroung is absolutely vital if Skype is worth keeping on a mobile device.
If MS thinks that it can force it's users to WP8 by denying them basic functionality, it would do well to remember that its users can walk to other far more customisable phones (like those with Android) which is more likely to do what they, the end user, want, not what MS thinks they should have. -

We need Skype to be able to run in the background, otherwise it is useless.
If you don't do at least this my next phone will be either Iphone or Android.
What customer service is that?, leave the customers with an obsolete phone, without mayor software upgrades...

excuse me, we want a necessary feature, and you offer us a cosmetic change? What about a free upgrade (hardware and software) to Windows Phone 8? If this is what you consider customer service, then my next phone is likely to be android

Make Skype seamless, like iMessage and BBM, except do it for text, voice, and video calls.

If Skype can't run in the background due to Windows Phone 7 OS restrictions, we should still be able to get Skype integrated into the People hub and the messaging app.

I think what is important is to focus on the principal of communication because we are speaking of a smartPHONE any integration in the messaging hub of skype and others VOIP and IM it will put microsoft above the competition, after all if IM+ worked perfectly and in real time this would shine over the messaging hub
