Continue to use Zune for media sync in WP

The WP sync app/manual copy is inferior to Zune for syncing media. Return to Zune for syncing media, including playlists and play counts.

Whether its called Zune or Xbox, I don't care, as long as I can do everything I could do with Zune, I can do in the new product. Furthermore, since you can have multiple devices, it is IMPERATIVE that you have the ability to sync 7.5, 7.8, and 8 devices with the same software!

I don't need Zune back, I just want to have all the functionality of Zune in the XBox Music player. Now I just can't use it, navigation and sorting music is a nightmare in the Metro app.

I agree, XBox Music sucks. Rebrand the Zune Software. XBox Music on Windows 8 is almost unusable. I like the Windows Phone client fine, but the Windows 8 client is probably the worst jukebox software I have ever tried.

I agree with Bill. Update and rebrand the Zune software, and allow Windows Phone 8 to sync with it. Please.

Please do, the zune software was great and the mess with playlists etc...is now a mess.

XBox Music is terrible, the Windows Phone Sync program really doesn't do what it needs to do...

It's baffling to me why you didn't just update and rebrand the Zune desktop application, since it was by far the best music/podcast program I'd ever used. Adding in some wireless syncing and some cloud library functionality would be great, but... really, it's absurd you can't sync WP8 devices through Zune. Especially since it makes things like ratings in my music library completely useless, and the WP8 sync app seems to get album art for like... a third of my files. Including a bunch of stuff I downloaded with a Zune pass.

I don't understand where those millions of people who bought WP8 are. Are they all satisfied with the "new" way to manage music and media in general? I feel this is a far bigger issue than any other WP8 blunders like notification center, fm radio, custom sounds, etc. Why bigger? Because it destroys loved and much used functionality that already has been in place for years.

And I thought not providing native audiobook support was the biggest mistake...

I feel like microsoft gave Windows 7 desktop users the shaft by not allowing Zune to recognize WP8 and be able to sync and manage music. U guys really missed the mark here if ur trying to make a successful cell phone line. U dont see apple making the iphone 5 inaccessible to iTunes do you? As a loyal windows and microsoft product user i feel like this is the stupidest design oversight and possibly a deal breaker for sticking w/ my lumia 920

Yes, I was expecting that the new wp8 would able to play wma lossless (I like high quality music n sound much better) but surprisingly It doesn't, thanks god i haven't got the Samsung ativ s wp8, please Microsoft make those changes, if those changes are not coming you are forcing me (maybe us) to try Samsung galaxy IV, android x/x...

I have used my WP7 as my primary music player since 2010. I was ready to buy a WP8 phone at launch, but hesitated after I heard it was not Zune compatible.

Based on the poor user experiences I have read about, I cannot see switching to WP8 until the music situation is brought back to the level was already enjoyed.

Agreed. Zune was amazing software. This new one is pathetic.

I actually came to WP because I figured that the music would be set up the way it was on Zune. I'm now contemplating on switching back to Android due to this issue... Don't get me wrong, I love my Lumia 920 and all, but it's little things such as my music and the way it's set up that play a big role. Please, I ask that this gains recognition.

As much as I love Windows Phone I'm headed back to Android now because of this. If I have to drag and drop my music in I might as well have a much better app selection to go along with it.

I have no idea how you came up with the decision to drop the software rather than just slap some xbox stickers on it, but whoever made the decision should not be working at a company that is supposedly forward thinking. The app you replaced it with is not a replacement at all.

The WP8 sync software is a poor and low featured beta app, which is embarrassing when compared to the Zune software. Why switch? The Zune software is polished and presents nicely. Why not improve the existing software, to fix the small glitches? I still have a Focus and a Lumia 920, so using one app for syncing and moving content would be most welcome. The problem is magnified, because the new software is so lacking. Podcasts are major for me, so I need something to manage them. Please fix this and add WP8 support to the current Zune software.

      • LukeLuke commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. The zune software is perfect, absolutely amazing. WHY WHY WHY get rid of the support?! It's ******* absurd. Microsoft has nailed WP8 and then they just shaft the zune userbase. I don't understand. Especially when the replacement is this ****** beta windows phone app from the 90's. Absolutely infuriating.

        This, one million times this.

Just add Windows Phone 8 support to the current Zune software. Let us manage music, podcasts and playlists just like we did the Windows Phone 7.

Or at least add the same functionality to the new software (which is severely limited), especially regarding podcasts and playlists. I want to download and manage podcasts from my computer. I want to be able to get podcasts via the Store, via feed URLs that I copy and paste into the software, and I want to be able to copy files manually to my Podcast library and have them show up in my Podcast list as I can now (after changing the files' genre to "Podcast").

Do this and I will buy a Windows Phone 8 device. I want to give MS my money.
