Please bring Zune back! I understand the need to disconnect from the Zune branding but this is actually killing a good brand now... Xbox is a good brand and associating it with this terrible app won't really help.

Can anybody explain me what's the criteria for songs that get added to your playlist on the phone automatically trhough sync versus the ones you added through a PC, tablet or Xbox console?? What's the difference between a phone device and a tablet when it comes to play songs???

      • MistoyvichMistoyvich commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Having your playlists stored in the cloud is not really something revolutionary, it's almost obvious... However assuming you would be streaming in your own songs from the cloud to your phone is senseless. Even for the songs you don't have the ownership, that's why you have DRM... So you simply can't play on your songs when disconnected? What kind of logic is this?

All sorts of trouble w/ syncing which should necessitate a rewrite or some serious QA.
Windows Phone desktop app can't handle extra large libraries, crashes 3/4 through a 150K library.
Auto Playlist sync from WMP12 to WP8 device creates phantom blank grey album entries for songs from the same album w/ meta data changes, etc.

The desktop app managed to add music that I subsequently could not delete from my 920. Resetting my phone now thanks to this wonderful app! But seriously this is the singular issue for windows phone. Build the drivers and let us use zune! Also don't make this a windows 8 only thing, if it runs on windows 8 it can run on windows 7.

For Windows 7 users using Windows Phone 8 it is a massive slap in the face to use the windows app as it looks like a school leaver wrote it (IN A RUSH). Having used Zune I can't understand what drove Micirosoft to punish what it counts as an important market by releasing such rubbish. Why not keep Zune going until you have something worthy of being an alternative. This is easily the worst user experience piece of software I have seen Microsoft produce and they should be ashamed of themsleves as well as fire the person who thought it was the best way to approach the change from Zune. I don't mind if they want to improve/change the user experience but this is pure amateur hour! Not software the biggest Software company in the world should put its name to.

I am serious fire the person who sullied the great MS software brand with this terrible terrible piece of software.

I want to use Zune with my W8 phone! I was today forced to start using iTunes for managing my podcasts.

If not Zune, the give us a comparable Windows 8 App that is not the horrid, watered down version of a bad Xbox App and a Sync tool.

Windows 8 needs a 'real' Music and Video App, not the **** (even after update) the Xbox team is delivering.

This App also needs to work with WP8 seamlessly.

Zune and WP7 and Zune Pass work brilliantly. Yet when Microsoft should be showcasing this technology with Windows 8 and WP8, the new iteration is beyond BAD.

Relook at Zune, make it into a Windows 8 App and integrate it with Xbox Music/Video, and then update Zune for Windows 7 users so it works with Xbox Music/Video and seamlessly works with WP7 and WP8.

This is NOT rocket science .

95% of the time with my WinPhone7, I was listening to music. I've found WP8 just terrible! I can't easily sync music. I cannot delete songs that are on my Zunepass account. There's no easy way to synch my PC zune library with the phone and track my library. I can't stream music at work (Streaming blocked on WiFi & poor LTE reception), so the difficulty moving music back and forth has been a killer for me. I've started using the Nokia Music offline feature. I can't choose the exact music, but I can at least get something on my phone. Not only will I consider a different phone with my next upgrade, but I'll be dropping my Xbox/Zune Pass when it's up this summer too.

At this point, I probably won't

Do away with the annoying blank green tile and bring back Zune pls

      • Anonymous commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Zune, Zune Zune! For anyone who dislikes Zune *caughs* @Macguyver419 has obviously never used it and probably loves the resource hoggy in-bread cousin iTunes. Why would anyone take a beautiful piece of software, remove it's integration and replace it with rubbish? Not to mention splitting up AIO solutions into two that are still requiring both parts to work. Seriously, get your game together or show us what you have planned because this is not it.

Today's update for XBM still leaves the app miles off the elegence and functionality of Zune. Please, just bring the old app.

I hate to say it guys but all of this appears to be a joke to someone at MS. If anyone cared there would have been a solution to this a long time ago. I've had to replace my Lumia 920 three times due to it bricking on me and in every case all of the music I downloaded from Xbox music pass is LOST!! I have no way of knowing what was on my previous phone. This was never a problem with Zune. All I had to do was log in and on my computer and pull up the previous phone ID and walla. Everything was backed up and all I had to do was pick them again to be downloaded to my phone. Long Live Zune!!!!

I am really upset with this. One of the reasons I loved wp7 was Zune. It did exactly what I wanted, how I wanted, when I wanted. Wireless sync, auto playlists, music pass, podcasts etc.

The new Sync app for wp8 is buggy as **** doesn't have the flexibility to properly manage my collection, and every other solution I have tried is downgrade from Zune

I just read through this thread... it's as if 2 or 3 people are speaking over and over and over... but it's not. Hundreds of users echoing the same sentiments about Zune... I really hope they move Zune's feature set to whatever-app they go with next.

      • whirlwhirl commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I had to suffer through 2 years of Zune growing pains and now that the software is FINALLY USABLE they're *replacing it*???

"Who is making these decisions at Microsoft?"

That's a good question. As I read users in forums all over the internet post this question, I can't help but think at the very root of this question is the simple & painful realization that a product from MS can no longer be "enjoyed". Out of the box, it won't work as advertised, and by the time it becomes "useful" and "enjoyable", it's on the chopping block.

MS' business model is no longer to create a product and perfect it; but rather to create and improve a product only until it becomes useful- then kill it. Once you understand that, MS products no longer look attractive.

All you have to do is look at the Xbox, then look at the PS3. Sony got it right from day 1 and MS is still trying.

        "Microsoft- wake up!"

The ONLY reason I left my beloved Android phone for WP8 was so I could have my music on my phone. Since my Zune shuts off when I run I needed a new solution. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Can transfer my Zune subscription music to my phone. In addition to the alarming lack of apps (SiriusXM, etc.), the inability to get ALL of my music on this phone essentially renders it useless to me. I wholly regret this purchase and wish MS would get it together.
